Today we looked over the new blog, familiarising ourselves with new terms like post, blog and widget. We also discussed internet protocols, such as ensuring we never give away personal information and making sure our work is of a high standard to share with the world.
Some students also learned to post comments. We love comments! In fact, I want to encourage comments so much that I will give 1000 house points to the first ten students (from 5/6C) to post a comment to our blog before Wednesday. To qualify, comments must be correctly spelled and punctuated and say something intelligent, like sharing an idea or commenting thoughtfully on a post – no yelling though; AAAARRRGGGHHHH!
(Note from Mrs C – no one got any points! How will you know what is happening if you don’t read new posts, chilluns?)
When we have all of our permission forms back, students will be able to write their own posts and, soon, post on their own blogs! Stay tuned…

G’day Mrs C,
I have just started learning to blog over the Christmas break and have started also with the students in my grade 6/7 in Tasmania. I wonder would you like to be added to our blogroll and would my students be able to comment on your blogs?
tasteach.learnerblogs.org for the class blog
Some students may eventually get their own personal blogs but at the moment I am doing the posting and will invite some students to also send me a post that I can add to our class blog.

Thanks, Miss Wyatt, for adding us to your blogroll – you will see your blog added to ours too. We welcome comments from anywhere and everywhere!
I began my first grade blog last year in October and this is the first time I have given students personal blogs – it’s a big experiment which places a lot of trust in the kids doing the right thing, but I have a wonderful grade this year so I am confident of some wonderful outcomes.
