Miss Wyatt found this site, Wordcount, on someone else’s blog. I found it on her class blog. Now you’ve found it on our blog – the wonders of networking!

This site is fascinating; did you know that chocolate is the 4,204th most used word in English? Or that James is number 1000? The is the most commonly used word, and conquistador comes last in the database, at 86,800th!

Check out the wordle for a few others I picked out, then go and search yourself!Words In Order

    Hi Mrs C
I made a blog for my family. It looks
pretty borying with one post. I can’t work out how to
put the cluster map on the side bar.
I think i have a lot of work to do!
I reckon it will be a lot of fun because it has been fun with my blog.

    Hi Mrs C,
i knew that school could be you sh”226″.
    Thats amzing.
Maybe you and your class could make a memory game.Like to this:
You have cards on your table or floor and then put it on a table or floor and the children in your class sits in a circle and picks a card up and try to say the number for the words.[if you are learning more you could tell your children to practise it before they start the game.] if you want to, have a go!!!
    bye

From Mrs C: Hi Katherine, that’s a good idea, to make a memory game out of the numbers. I don’t know if the ranking of words changes with time though – for instance, I’ll bet the words “Beijing” and “medal” got quite a boost in the last week or so! Thanks for the comment.

Hi Mrs C and your class. I am setting up some blogs for our students who are in Year 8. I would like to create a link to your page so that they can see some great examples of blogs. Thanks for the link to the Wordcount site. Can’t wait to try this out.

From Mrs C: Thanks for using our blogs as examples. We like wordcount too – it’s fun to see the ranking our names get. I like the way these sites get passed on from blog to blog – great networking.
